Restaurants

Dining inside the park ranges from grab-and-go at the Bright Angel Fountain to a sit-down meal with canyon views at El Tovar. Book El Tovar well in advance. It fills months out.

Scenic Drives

Desert View Drive runs about 25 miles along the East Rim with pullouts at every major viewpoint. Hermit Road (7 miles west) is closed to private cars March through November. Free shuttles mean fewer cars and a calmer ride.

Museums

The Yavapai Geology Museum sits right on the rim, with free ranger talks and a wall of windows over the canyon. Kolb Studio, at the Bright Angel trailhead, hosts rotating art exhibits in the Kolb brothers' historic home.

Shopping

Hopi House, next to El Tovar, carries authentic Native American art and crafts. Verkamp's sold souvenirs from 1906 to 2008 and is now a visitor center with a Grand Canyon Conservancy park store.

Overnight Options

In-park lodges like El Tovar can be booked up to 13 months ahead, and they fill that early. Tusayan, just outside the South Entrance, has more options at lower prices. Williams and Flagstaff are 60–90 minutes away.
